Who are IWFM?

The IWFM is the professional body for facilities management [FM] in the UK. Founded in 1993, the Institute represents and promotes the interest of nearly 17,000 members and the wider FM community. We are an IWFM recognised Centre for the delivery of their level 5 qualifications.

How is the qualification delivered?

Our delivery is based on face to face day courses followed by written assignments. You will also have access to an online resource platform while you write the assessments.

Level 5 Award: one 3-day course (‘The FM Business School’) followed by 2 written assignments

Level 5 Certificate: at least 2 different courses including the above 3-day course, followed by at least 4 written assignments

Level 5 Diploma: at least 6 different courses including the above 3-day course, followed by at least 7 written assignments

About the Assessments

The level 5 assessments have a focus on operational level facilities management and mainly require you to explain FM concepts and processes and the rationale behind them, including the wider implications of FM.

How long does it take to complete?

After you have attended the course, the time you take to complete the assessments depends very much on your input and on the quality of your work. As far as the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) is concerned, one credit equals 10 hours of learning and so the Total Qualification Time (TQT) is roughly 120 hours for the Award, 240 hours for the Certificate and 480 hours for the Diploma. We generally say that the Award takes 3 to 6 months to complete, the Certificate takes around a year to complete, the Diploma will take you a good 18 months to complete.

How much does it cost?

Starting costs are as follows. Total costs will depend on the units you choose and on whether you need accommodation during the course.
Award: £1510 + VAT
Certificate: £2830 + VAT
Diploma: £5479 + VAT

Note the Diploma is an intensive programme of study which can take a long time to achieve. We recommend you start with the Award or the Certificate in the first instance, however this is only a suggestion. You do not need to complete the full Diploma in order to progress to the next level.
